On the 10 Nov 1975, in a rare moment of lucidity and temporary enlightenment, the UN General Assembly resolution 3379 was adopted condemning Zionism as a form of Racism and Racial Discrimination!
It was adopted by 72 to 35 votes with 32 abstentions and espoused the lofty ideals that

“….any doctrine of racial differentiation or superiority is scientifically false, morally condemnable, socially unjust and dangerous ……… the manifestations of racial discrimination still in evidence in some areas in the world, some of which are imposed by certain Governments by means of legislative, administrative or other measures…. ”

It also drew parallels between Israel and South Africa and called it an ‘unholy alliance’.
Although this was entirely unfair in the extreme, to equate Zionism with SA’s Apartheid;
